OUR HISTORY
CBC has provided comprehensive psychiatric services in North Carolina since 1982. Its founder, Robert A. Fleury, M.D., DLFAPA, developed its multidisciplinary psychiatric clinic in Pinehurst, North Carolina, providing a range of outpatient services including chemical dependency treatment. Subsequently, hospital based inpatient services were developed in collaboration with First Health of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, NC.
In 1987, the clinic grew in staffing and developed an outpatient site in Rockingham, NC. In 1990, CBC became medically responsible for psychiatric services at Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet, NC, and initiated a contract with the Sandhills Center to provide crisis stabilization and inpatient psychiatric services.
In 2005, CBC developed an affiliate relationship with Saguaro Group, LLC, a provider of enhanced mental health services for Medicaid and uninsured patients throughout North Carolina. By virtue of that relationship, CBC rapidly grew to ten outpatient clinic sites in order to expand psychiatric and psychological services in mostly under-served areas of the state. Subsequently, CBC has consolidated its operations and now provides clinical services in Pinehurst, Durham, and Hillsborough, North Carolina. The service array has grown to include buprenorphine treatment for opioid dependence.
CBC has developed an active clinical research program for phase III and IV clinical trials. Under the clinical direction of Robert Millet, M.D., CBC has conducted clinical trials in schizophrenia and depression since 2012.
In 2012, in response to the clinical needs of our patients, CBC added in-house pharmacy services. Through a relationship with Amerisource Bergen, CBC has office-based pharmacies with Pharm.D. clinicians in Durham and Pinehurst. This has enhanced the availability of medications for our patients and has greatly improved measures of adherence and compliance toward improved clinical outcomes.
In 2013, CBC developed in-house urine drug testing to complement our ancillary laboratory services. This is an integral part of our goal of clinical excellence, providing important clinical information to support the detection of substance abuse as well as adherence to clinical protocols.
