TRAINING AND CREDENTIALS
Teresa Freeman, LCAS, LCSWA, received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2016 and a master’s in general psychology from Kaplan University in 2014. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in addictions from Kaplan University. Ms. Freeman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) through the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
Ms. Freeman’s previous experience includes work in the Department of Public Safety’s substance use treatment programs, outpatient treatment for opioid dependency, outpatient mental health therapy and inpatient substance use treatment centers. She has also worked with individuals with disabilities.
Ms. Freeman is currently supervising fully credentialed certified substance abuse counselors through the N.C. Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board.
AREAS OF CLINICAL INTEREST
Ms. Freeman’s primary interest is treatment of addiction disorders, adult mental health disorders, and trauma and victimization. In spring 2017, Teresa will be trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma survivors suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
