Welcome to the televisit information center. At Carolina Behavioral Care we offer HIPAA compliant online services for new and current patients residing in North Carolina.  Patients can access these services from desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablets.  The service array offered by telehealth is the same as those outlined under the Treatment Section and includes psychiatric, substance abuse, and therapy services.

Our telehealth services are also integrated with the in-house pharmacy and lab services offered at CBC.  This integrated care model will allow your provider to have all prescriptions filled in our pharmacy and mailed to you for your convenience.  We will also manage any drug testing monitoring needs by mail service to your home.

Through a collaborative relationship with the Department of Psychiatry at East Carolina Medical School, Carolina Behavioral Care is a telepsychiatry provider for NCSTeP. This service provides psychiatric consultations to emergency room patients throughout North Carolina. We utilize televideo conferencing capabilities to perform mental health assessments, treatment and disposition recommendations for patients in underserved areas of N.C.

In addition to our emergency room services, we also offer TeleVisits directly to our patient’s smartphone, tablet or computer. Call today to make an appointment!

TeleVisit Information Center – Fixes to Top Issues Patients have Joining their TeleVisit

ISSUE,:
My screen says waiting for host but my provider never showed up.
FIX
:
Please go back to the email with the APPOINTMENT LINK we sent you. Tap/click the link and try joining the TeleVisit from there. If it says, “The visit will start when your Doctor joins”, you’re in the right place!

ISSUE:
When I try tapping Join, nothing happens or the screen reloads back to the same page I was just on.

FIX:
It sounds like you may not have the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app on the phone, tablet or computer you are using. CLICK HERE to go to our TeleVisit help page and look at step number two under “Need Help Connecting?”

ISSUE:
I never received an email with my APPOINTMENT LINK.

FIX:
When this happens, check the for the message in your email account’s Spam folder (may go under a different folder name such as Junk, Spam, etc). If you still cannot find it, call us at 844-534-7208 for assistance. When directed, click I HAVE A CODE to be taken to our TeleVisit portal.

Connecting to your TeleVisit Appointment

Use these general steps to connect to your TeleVisit appointment:

  1. You will be sent an email with an Internet link to use to connect to CBC’s TeleMedicine service and it is STRONGLY recommended to join 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This is so you can get the most out of your visit and not risk being rescheduled due to technical issues.
  2. For your TeleVisit, you will need to add the ZOOM app to your device by tapping or clicking one of the options below. Choose the option that best describes your device.

  •    Microsoft Windows Computers:
    Download for Windows
  •    Apple MacOS Computers:
    Download for Mac
*NOTE: Desktop/Tower PCs must have a web camera and speakers to work properly. Laptops have this built in.
  •    IMPORTANT NOTE – Do NOT attempt to connect to your appointment directly from the Zoom app itself. You MUST tap (or click) the link to your appointment in the email begin the connection process (otherwise, your provider will not see that you are ready).
  • Now that the app has been added, follow the link to your appointment in the email you received from us.
  • Once you “Enter Waiting Room”, your provider will see that you have arrived and are ready to be seen.
  • Once your provider has connected, you will be asked to join OR the appointment will start automatically.
  • As you connect, you may be asked to allow access to your camera, microphone and other items on your device. Please allow access each time you are asked. Failure to do so may inhibit your ability to be seen and would require rescheduling.
  • Congratulations! You have now connected to your appointment.

What is a TeleVisit appointment?

A TeleVisit appointment is a way to see your health provider without going to their office. TeleVisits allow patients and providers to not only hear one another, but see one another as well.

Why would I want do have a TeleVisit appointment?

For those who want to minimize potential exposure to COVID-19, TeleVisits through CBC allow patients to see their provider without leaving home. Patients that opt to use our pharmacy can also have their prescription shipped to them (prescriptions often arrive next business day).

TeleMedicine Requirements

  • Device – Working PC/Mac with a camera and microphone, Windows laptop/Macbook. Chromebooks are also supported!
    – OR –
  • Mobile Device – Smartphone (iPhone, Android or Blackberry) or tablet (Android or iPad).
  • Internet – Device must have internet through WiFi or cellular/mobile data (i.e.: 4G, 5G).
  • Email Address – Patients must provide a valid email address to receive TeleMedicine invitations. We do not sell or provide your email to any outside organizations. It is simply used to send appointment notifications and allows access the patient portal.

How to Prepare For the TeleVisit

  • Call Quality – Use a room where wireless Internet works best. Patients that rely upon their cell phone’s data, go to an area where they get the most bars (signal).
  • Privacy – Have the TeleVisit appointment in a separate room that allows for privacy.
  • Distractions – See if a friend or family member can watch children or other dependents while they have their telemedicine appointment.
  • Test Connection – Tell them they will receive an email that two days before their scheduled appointment. In that email, there will be a link they can use to test the connection before using it. Patients can visit https://zoom.us/test to prepare their device ahead of time.
