TRAINING AND CREDENTIALS
Pamela Epperson, PhD, graduated from The College of the Virgin Islands in 1971 then attended the University of North Carolina, completing a 60-hour master’s degree in school psychology in 1973. After working several years at John Umstead Hospital in Butner, N.C., she returned to graduate school at Duke University and earned a doctorate in counseling psychology in 1982.
Dr. Epperson worked with both inpatient and outpatient child and adolescent populations while at John Umstead Hospital. She served as psychologist for the Intensive Diagnostic and Treatment Unit and, later, for the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Unit. Upon the closing of John Umstead, Dr. Epperson served on the staff of the Child and Adolescent Unit and the Adult Admissions Unit at Central Regional Hospital on a part-time basis. Dr. Epperson began private practice work at Carolina Psychological Associates in Fayetteville, N.C. In 1986, she began her own practice in Durham, N.C., prior to joining Carolina Behavioral Care in September 2011.
She is a member of the North Carolina Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.
AREAS OF CLINICAL INTEREST
Dr. Epperson's primary area of clinical interest is in providing therapy to adolescents and adults who are dealing with life transitions, depression or anxiety.
