HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
Mrs. Brown grew up in a military family and has lived or traveled throughout the world. She has been married to a military veteran for more than 26 years and has two adult aged children. In addition to travel, Tonna enjoys social outings with friends, boating, playing golf, yoga, reading, and spending time with her dogs.

TRAINING AND CREDENTIALS
Mrs. Brown has an undergraduate degree (BS) in psychology from Fayetteville State University and holds a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from Walden University with a concentration in military social work. Prior to completing her graduate degree, Mrs. Brown worked as a facilitator for substance abuse classes and presented employer-hosted educational sessions on behavioral health topics such as conflict resolution, anger and/or stress management, and suicidal awareness/prevention She completed her clinical internship with Thrive Counseling & Consulting where she focused on honing her skills in mental health assessment, treatment planning and interventions. Mrs. Brown’s postgraduate work has been in private practice treating couples and individuals from the ages of 12 years and older. Mrs. Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina. She has held certifications in both trauma and mindfulness informed practices.
AREAS OF CLINICAL INTEREST
Mrs. Brown has completed training in EMDR, ACT, DBT, and many other trauma- focused therapeutic interventions. She has a special interest in the mind-body connection and how to use this connection to address symptoms common in anxiety, depression, trauma and other disorders. Mrs. Brown uses mindfulness to promote increased self-awareness, distress tolerance and improved interpersonal relationships, all from a stance of acceptance and non-judgmental position.
